FEED THE HUNGRY
Within our world, there are so many people who go to bed every night with an empty stomach. In a few cities we do outreach in, there are over 1,000 homeless adults and around 700 homeless children. School systems are trying to keep their students from starving during the day and having enough to sustain them over the weekend. However, a few questions come to mind: What happens when they aren't in school? What happens to homeless adults when its freezing and all of the shelters are full? When the colder months come, homeless people come from up north and the soup kitchens can fill up fast. This is where A Time For Change Movement seeks to make a difference. Once a man said, "We rely on the government to take care of the needy within our country, while it should be the church."
One thing we often forget, is that when we take care of those in need, we are directly loving and caring for God. But lots of times, we as humans hold on to what we have, out of fear that we may too, one day become poor or homeless. This is where our trust and faith in Jesus being our life comes into play. He knows exactly what we need and what we do not need. Now is the time to really take steps to change this world with the blessings we have been given. Let us show the world the love of God through the way we care for those in need.
John, one of the writers of the Bible writes, "If anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." (1 John 3:17-18).
Let us step out this year in a new way. Will you join us this year as we plan to feed and bring nourishment, both physically and spiritually, to those who are starving for more?
visit THE SICK
How often do we see the sick throughout our day? Probably more then we think. While it may not necessarily be someone who is dealing with a cold, cough or stomach ache, there are battles that are going on all around us with illnesses. Many people in our world struggle with depression, insecurities, fear, doubts, worries. Now you may not say that constitutes as being sick but it all depends on how you see sickness.
Webster's Dictionary defines sickness as "a disordered, weakened, or unsound condition." When we view sickness in those realms, we may realize we too are dealing with struggles. What we believe, is that this is a spiritual battle. Not caused or brought on by anything you have done but by something the enemy want to do. You are a child of the living God, and He has prepared so much life for you through Jesus Christ, but there is opposition.
Jesus said, "The thief (enemy, devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10).
We have an amazing opportunity to be free through Jesus, however struggles may still remain. This is where we take steps in faith to deliver this freedom to those who are oppressed and battling. We believe in the power of prayer and we take Jesus' call for all to be a literal one.
Jesus said, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, and cleanse those who have leprosy. Drive out demons from the possessed. You received these gifts freely, so you should give them to others freely." (Matthew 10:8).
He said, "we received these gifts freely (this freedom from sickness), so you should give them to others freely." Amazing, lets do this!
